Speed Test

Measures the real sustained download and upload throughput in Mbps at this desk, then tells you in plain language which Teams and Zoom video modes will hold up. It moves throwaway generated bytes to and from a single DeskTest.net server and times them - this is a per-desk estimate, not a multi-server speedtest replacement.

Privacy: This tool downloads and uploads random filler bytes to edge.desktest.net (DeskTest.net's own server) to measure throughput. Those bytes are generated on the fly and discarded at the edge - they are never your files, and nothing is stored or logged as content. It is a single point-of-presence estimate, not a multi-server speedtest. No accounts, no analytics, no tracking. View source to verify.

Configuration

Driver: Browser fetch + Streams APIs

Takes about 20-30 seconds and moves up to a few hundred MB of throwaway data. On a metered or cellular connection, mind your data cap. Total bytes and total time are capped so the test cannot run away.

Download throughput

Streams throwaway bytes from the desktest edge over a sustained window and tallies Mbps.
