Getting started
If something at the front desk is not working right, this site has a short test that can tell you whether the problem is your computer, your equipment, or something else. Pick the test that matches what is broken, run it, and read the result.
What is DeskTest.net?
DeskTest.net is a set of small web pages. Each page tests one specific thing on your work computer and tells you, in plain words, whether it is working. You do not need to install anything, you do not need an account, and nothing you do on these pages is sent anywhere. The test runs right inside your browser tab and stops the moment you close it.

How to read the results
Every test is a short list of checks. Each check shows one of four labels.
- Pending
- The check has not run yet. You will see this before you click the Run button.
- Running
- The check is in progress. Give it a few seconds.
- Pass
- That part is working correctly. No action needed.
- Fail
- That part is not working. The row will explain what was checked and why it failed.
At the top of the page after a test finishes, you will see a one-line summary called the overall verdict. It tells you in one sentence whether your equipment passed or whether something needs attention.
If something fails
Each failed row shows a Likely cause and a Recommended next step. Try the recommended step first, because it fixes most cases. If you are not sure what to do, or the fix is not something you can do from your own account (for example, installing a driver or changing a Windows setting), copy the diagnostic report and send it to your IT person. Do not keep clicking Run over and over; the result will not change until something on the computer is fixed.
Sending a report to your IT person
After the test finishes, a Copy Diagnostic Report button appears. Click it once. The full report is now on your clipboard, ready to paste into an email, a chat message, or your ticket system. The report lists the browser you used, the operating system on the workstation, the exact failure messages, and the steps the page tried. That is everything IT needs to act on the issue without first asking you a list of follow-up questions.
